TARITA JOHNSON

Tarita Johnson serves as the Executive Director of Wholistic Stress Control Institute, Inc. (WSCI). Since 1996, Mrs. Johnson has served as Principal Investigator, Project Director, Case Manager, and Health Educator on numerous federally, state, foundation, and locally funded programs. As of 2023, she has secured over a million dollars annually to sustain WSCI’s capacity to provide evidenced based and best-practice prevention and intervention approaches for 13 programs in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, violence, teen pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, positive parenting, and workforce development for re-entry populations.

Mrs. Johnson has worked extensively with Metro Atlanta communities in organizing interventions, community coalitions, workgroups, and collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, including schools, jails, and government entities.

Other notable accomplishments include:

  • The 2021/2022 Atlanta Public Schools Partner of the Year Award.

  • Emory University’s Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award for her work with the juvenile justice populations.

  • Served as a Georgia Ryan White Planning Council Priority Committee member to determine HIV funding allocations.

  • Co-authoring empirical articles and published books written with Morehouse School of Medicine Prevention and Research Center.

Mrs. Johnson holds a Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in School Social Work. She is most known for her unwavering dedication and commitment to her family, friends, and programs and her concern for ensuring every participant is served.
