Color it real training

Color It Real is a culturally relevant, age-appropriate, 6-session prevention program curriculum designed to decrease risky sexual behavior, substance use, and perceived stress levels. The Color It Real Project is an evidence-based HIV/AIDS and Substance Abuse program.

It was designed to serve African-American heterosexual males and females, ages 18-24, who are enrolled in college or attend community programs.

Color It Real (CIR) Purpose

  • Reduce substance use and misuse,

  • Reduce the onset and the transmission of HIV,

  • Increase coping skills,

  • Teach African-American History

  • Teach cultural relevance of Hip Hop Music

Color It Real (CIR) Project is designed to empower young adults to:

  • Recognize and control triggers for risky sexual situations

  • Make healthy choices

  • Improve social skills, assertiveness, and coping skills

  • Learn effective problem-solving skills

  • Build positive relationships

  • Learn stress reduction skills
