WHAT IS PAATH-II?Pointing African-Americans Towards Health PAATH II Project is a substance abuse prevention (SAP) program for African-American middle school students ages 12 to 14 years old.
PAATH-II GOALS:GOAL 1:
To strengthen the coordination and collaboration of the PAATH Coalition to assist with providing effective integrated substance abuse prevention (SAP) services.
To prevent the age of onset and frequency of use for alcohol, tobacco and other drugs for youth.
PAATH-II OBJECTIVES:Objective 1:
To deliver prevention and intervention services to youth by implementing a scientific proven substance abuse prevention model program.
To build resiliency to avoid substance abuse.
COMMUNITY GOALS FOR PAATH -IIThe PAATH II Coalition have developed the following goals in the interest of preventing and reducing substance abuse among our youth.
1. EFFECTIVE PARENTING
PAATH-II COALITIONThe PAATH-II Coalition works to:
(1) increase families and the communityâ€™s capacity and resources to prevent and reduce substance abuse among African-American youth; (2) strengthen protective factors for these youth; and (3) help prepare youth for successful entry into adulthood.
The PAATH Coalition consists of PAATH participants and parents, community members, local, federal, state and county agencies, businesses, religious institutions, and other nontraditional institutions. This Coalition meets monthly.

Protecting, Guiding and Developing our Youth
Parent AgencyThe parent agency for the PAATH-II Project is the Wholistic Stress Control Institute (WSCI). WSCI is an award-winning 25 year old community based non-profit organization whose mission is to teach â€śwholisticâ€ť stress management by promoting wellness and healthy lifestyle choices. In addition to its training programs, WSCI operates over 12 community prevention and intervention programs in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, juvenile
delinquency, violence, teen pregnancy and abstinence education, parent and HIV/AIDS education. The majority of WSCI programs is free and target high risk youth and their families in low income communities. Many of WSCI programs models have been recognized as â€śBest Practicesâ€ť, by county, state and federal governments agencies. WSCI was founded by Jennie C. Trotter, M.Ed. who is also the executive director.
